Location - How to get there

Highway to Taxisco, Escuintla (CA-2) on kilometer marker 87 ½

We are only 20 minutes driving distance from Escuintla, and 20 minutes driving distance from Taxisco.

The entrance to Auto Safari will be on your right hand side when you come from Guatemala.

If you are coming from Guatemala City, we recommend you drive onto Calzada Aguilar Batres heading south. You will eventually reach several curves, pass Villa Nueva, Amatitlán, and reach Palín. Follow the signs to the Palín-Escuintla (CA-9A) toll way. Continue on the toll way, and as it ends, follow the lane signs indicating "Puerto de San José". About 3 kilometers after the signs, you will come to the crossway towards Taxisco. You need to turn left at this point, (a sign from Auto Safari in front of the crossing will show you exactly where). Continue until you reach Kilometer marker 87. The entrance will be clearly visible to your right hand side, 500 meters after Km 87.

When coming from El Salvador, the entrance to Auto Safari will be on your left hand side.

If you are driving from El Salvador, the closest point of entry to Auto Safari is through Pedro de Alvarado City, also known as "La Hachadura" border crossing. Once you cross the border, it will take you 45 minutes to an hour to reach the park. The entrance will be on your left hand side.

Lodging

Although Auto Safari does not currently offer lodging services, we have prepared a map of nearby hotels for your convenience.

If you do not wish to drive more than 45 minutes to reach a hotel, you may go to Escuintla, which is 20 minutes away from Auto Safari Chapin. Here you will find Sarita Hotel and Texas Motel.

If you are willing to drive 45 minutes to an hour, your lodging options improve. Auto Safari Chapin recommends three locales for staying overnight. Two of these have hotels near the pacific coast, and one is Antigua Guatemala, a colonial City with plenty of options. Close to the beach, Puerto de San Jose and Monterrico offer affordable and comfortable hotels, with pools and access to the ocean. Antigua Guatemala has several family oriented large hotels, as well as smaller, more exclusive and private boutique hotels.
